Certified Wildlife Habitat

Our Certified Wildlife Habitat

A little slice of heaven for the wildlife that calls the Smokies home.

Maple Valley Farm is proud to be recognized by the National Wildlife Federation as a Certified Wildlife Habitat® through its Garden for Wildlife™ program. Here on our approximately 50-acre farm in Sevierville, caring for the land includes caring for the wild neighbors who depend on it.

What the Certification Means

The designation recognizes a landscape that provides wildlife with food, water, cover and places to raise young, along with sustainable gardening practices. It reflects our commitment to making room for wildlife alongside our flower fields, farm animals and farmstay accommodations.

How We Care for the Habitat

We continue to seed and plant wildflowers, plants and trees that offer food and shelter for native wildlife. Flowers help support pollinators, while the farm’s trees and vegetation provide places for animals to shelter and raise their young. Water sources on the property are another essential part of the habitat.

We avoid chemical weed control and synthetic fertilizers in caring for the land. Hunting is prohibited throughout the farm, and fishing in our designated fishing pond is catch-and-release only. Our resident farm animals are pets, cared for as members of our Farm Fam.

Wildlife Families at Home Here

During 2026, we have documented black bears with cubs, white-tailed deer with fawns, a bobcat with twins, and wildlife including pileated woodpeckers, wild turkeys, kingfishers, raccoons, skunks and opossums with young. Seeing these families reminds us why habitat matters: animals need places to live through every stage of their lives.

Enjoy Nature Respectfully

If you’re staying with us, enjoy watching and listening for wildlife while giving animals plenty of space. Never feed, approach or follow wild animals, and keep pets under control. Wildlife moves freely, so every visit is different and sightings are never guaranteed.

Maple Valley Farm is a private, gated property. Access is for registered guests and visitors with prior arrangements.

Make Room for Wildlife Where You Live

You can support wildlife in your own outdoor space, too. Learn about habitat gardening and certification at nwf.org/garden.
